I quit alcohol by mistake the same year I turned 43. I had just been diagnosed with mixed ADHD and was told not to combine the medicine I was prescribed with alcohol. I obediently followed the doctor’s orders for two months until I started realizing that a ton of people were drinking alcohol while on this medicine. Hell, people without ADHD were even using this medicine illegally as a party upper, intentionally combining it with alcohol. Now, I’m not saying that this is a good idea, in fact it can apparently be dangerous that the medicine makes you feel that you’ve been drinking less than you have and that it can therefore make you super drunk when the medicine leaves the body. This would not have been a problem for me as I was a rather light drinker to begin with, but anyway.
